This Caledonia couple had been in their home for a short time, but were really struggling with what to do with their long and odd shaped great room. They both had a great vision for the style they wanted and had known they wanted a mix of contemporary and industrial pieces to take up the space. After some careful space planning, I was able to come up with a plan that maximized their living space and captured the mixed media style they were hoping for! We also replaced their dining set, furnished their back patio and converted their loft area from an office to a comfy lounge area!
Chris and Monica were feeling stuck in their outdated home and were looking to do a revamp on their entire first floor. They hated their outdated oak trim and cabinets, the carpeting that divided their living spaces, and the small dark kitchen with limited storage for their busy family of 5. They also really wanted to add a fireplace to their family room. We started by repainting the entire first level a clean warm gray and replaced their existing flooring with a light neutral laminate to give the same flow throughout the space. We picked out some great stacked stone for their fireplace and replaced all of their trim, doors and cabinetry with a fresh white shaker look. They originally had a formal dining room behind their kitchen that was never really used, so we pushed the entire kitchen back and turned their old dining space into a large pantry/office space. We finished the areas off with some custom light fixtures, new furniture and rugs, and some brand new appliances in their kitchen to give their family an updated and functional first floor that they now love spending time in!
Mark and Dorothy started building a condo and realized that they were in a little over their heads. They had decided to start totally fresh and purchase all new furniture for their new home, which is no easy task. Once we assessed their style, we were able to use custom upholstery pieces to furnish their living room, sun room, master bedroom and dining space. We added a few accent chairs, artwork pieces, case pieces and a large area rug to finish the space and give them a calming neutral color scheme with fun pops of gold. They are loving their new home, and everything in it!
John and Joni had been living in their new home for almost a year with no living room furniture. Their dining room table sat alone in their large great room space, while their oversized worn furniture occupied their beautiful sunroom. The reason: they couldn't decide what their style was. They were afraid of designing their new home too much like their previous home, and at the same time didn't feel confident enough to go in a totally different direction. After one visit to their home, I knew exactly what to do with the space. We decided to give everything a fresh look, starting with new paint in their great room, kitchen, sunroom and powder room. We used custom furniture in the living and sun rooms to anchor their new mixture of contemporary, traditional and rustic design. Tables, rugs, accents and artwork completed their homes' entire lower level, and now they have a place that they can truly call theirs.
Terry was just moving into a new home in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois. He was basically starting from scratch and had no idea where to start. He had been furniture shopping at several stores, and couldn't seem to narrow down his options. His living room is a longer, more narrow space, so he was also struggling to find a set up that worked. With my help, we separated his living room into two seating areas, added custom furniture, an area rug, window treatments and other accessories. We also furnished his formal dining space. Now Terry is excited to host parties at his new home and show off his beautiful space to his friends and family!
Glen and Wanda built their home years ago with an open concept. Throughout the years, their furniture became dated and worn, so they decided it was time for a change. Wanda loves italian-rustic design, so we based our design choices around that style while also selecting comfortable and practical pieces for their living room, dining space and entry way areas. We used a custom sofa and chairs, a brand new entertainment wall, tables, window treatments and accessories to spruce up the entry and living room spaces, and a custom dining table, chairs, and buffet for the dining space. They now have a cozy space to entertain and spend their everyday activities in.
Pat was told by a neighbor that her living room had "no personality". Unsure of what that even meant, she had no idea where to start. She felt that her wood paneling, vertical blinds, and carpeting were holding her back from having a beautifully designed room, so we quickly changed her mind by complementing the wood paneling to make it feel more updated. For Pat's room transformation, we installed new leather furniture, an accent chair and ottoman, tables, and an entertainment stand. We also updated her window treatments and artwork, and added a custom area rug to finish the project. Pat is now confident that her room has personality, and is enjoying showing it off to her friends and family.
When I met Kathy, her condo had been totally gutted and was in the process of a full remodel. While she had most of her finishes selected, she was unsure of how she was going to use and furnish her two separate living areas. Since her remodel ended up creating a total open-concept between her living, dining and kitchen areas, we needed the pieces in these areas to all work together. She also had a small guest room off of her living area that planned to be open to the space at all times, with a barn door option to close it off. Working with a farmhouse/beachy style, we were able to make all of her spaces cozy, functional and cohesive! Kathy and her dog, Martha, and definitely enjoying their new lake condo!
Pat’s kitchen was about as outdated as they get. Her countertops and cabinet frames were in good shape, but she never got around to adding a backsplash and really needed to replace the door fronts on her cabinets. We updated her country oak cabinets to a nice off white raised panel style to work with her traditional style home and added sleek new hardware and under cabinet lighting. We also added a fun new backsplash, a fresh coat of paint, and a ton of fun features such as a trash bin cabinet and soft close drawers and doors. We then carried these same styles into her laundry room, powder room and master bathroom. Now Pat’s kitchen is as beautiful and updated as they come!
Tonya came to me in the middle of her building process overwhelmed with how she was going to furnish and design an entire home within just a few months. She really loved the light and bright modern farmhouse feel and only had a dining table to bring from her existing home. This left me total freedom to put together a plan for her living area, dining area, master bedroom and entry spaces. The final design is a comfy and cozy space that she can live with for years to come!
Sue really felt that her formal living and dining space was outdated and uncomfortable. She wanted it to be a second gathering place, as some of her younger children are getting older and having more company over. We wanted the space to feel modern and updated, but still classy and put together, as she wanted to keep her dining room table. To start the transformation, we painted and added a new tile flooring. We replaced the window treatments and recovered the dining chairs in the dining space, added custom furniture in the living space, and topped it all off with area rugs, artwork and accessories. We also added a new table and accessories in the entry way. Now Sue is happy to sit in her new space and can't wait to show it off to guests!
Andy and Laurie decided that their outdated living and dining rooms needed a makeover. They wanted that new home feeling without having to move, so we got to work on their total transformation. We started by taking out their carpeting and refinishing the beautiful hardwood floors that lie beneath it. Then, fresh paint and removal of their wallpaper brightened the space. Finally, a whole new configuration designed with custom furniture, area rugs, window treatments and accessories gave the finishing touch to their beautiful new living spaces!
Russ and Gina were involved in a house fire that left them with a partially destroyed home. Once they had started to re-build, the thought of furniture shopping became so overwhelming with all that had happened. I stepped in to help Russ and Gina turn their house into their home again. We started with paint colors for all of the rooms, and then started the planning process. Together we were able to furnish their living room, dining room, master bedroom, Gina's office, and parts of the guest rooms and basement. Now Russ and Gina are able to relax again in their home filled with comfortable rustic designs!

Sandra and William are an on-the-move couple who rent a home in Racine, WI. The home had great character, but the furniture from their prior home in Chicago did not use up their living room and dining space correctly. Since they rent the home, they weren't able to paint or change any of the existing finishes. This meant we needed to taylor the furniture selections around the style of the home. We transformed both rooms by ordering custom furniture, changing out all of their case pieces, swapping out their dining room set, and of course adding rugs, art and accessories. Now the couple have a great entertaining space that they can enjoy with their son for years to come!
Angie and Kevin just bought a new home and were in need of some "new-home-worthy" furniture. They wanted their living room space to look clean and stylish, but with two small children also needed something comfortable and durable. We painted the room and custom ordered sofas in a specialty performance fabric, and added a custom made ottoman, leather chair, entertainment stand, and accessories to complete the room. For the couple's master bedroom, they wanted a relaxing color scheme and plenty of storage space. We painted their room and added a brand new bedroom set and accessories to make their master bedroom an oasis of comfort!
Maria was having trouble finding a way to configure her narrow shaped great room space. She didn't feel that she could make the space flow together and ended up sectioning off the room with her sofa. She also felt that the space was really dark and needed something to brighten it up. With a few custom furniture pieces, a new recliner for her husband, end tables and an area rug, Maria now loves her space and how it flows together!
